One of the things that works well on another of my blogs is to ask for questions. So may be time to start doing that here.
Just about every successful marketer I know uses private label rights in their marketing yet I always see people knocking the use of private label rights.
Usually those knocking PLR have no idea how to use it effectively. Even worse is that they see it as a no work solution. Just buy and use it.
So it is time to get rid of some of the falsehoods and help you grow your business quickly.
PLR especially good private label rights articles, reports and e-books can save you time but you need to do some of that nasty 4 letter word WORK.
You do need to use them as a base and make them your own.
So if you have questions on how best to do that take the time to ask your questions below in the comments.

Private label rights (PLR) can be a big help in growing your business. There are numerous things you need to do to create a business online. Here are three big ones.
Lead acquisition
Create products
Drive traffic
Private label rights products can be used to do or supplement all of those. Lets look at a few ways to do just that.
Starting with lead acquisition PLR reports can be an excellent way to quickly create a gift or ethical bribe to add people to your list. You can embed your links (affiliate landmines) within these products to make them even more valuable.
Sometimes you can find products with a squeeze page already made saving you even more time. You can also use quality article packs to create a report or e-course. I have done this quite frequently and try to add at least one new lead acquisition site each month.
Now I like affiliate marketing but the most profitable lists when I promote a product as an affiliate are those that have already bought my product. Having your own product is extremely valuable even if you primarily market affiliate products. Your subscribers trust you and are much more likely to follow your recommendations.
Creating your own product can be very easy when using a PLR product. Yes you will need to do some editing, change up the sales letter and tweak it to be you but it is much faster than creating a product on your own.
The key here is to get quality private label rights products to start with. Unfornately there is a lot of junky rehashed garbage out there which is why I only promote certain PLR products.
Make sure you sign up to the update list whether by RSS or email as when I find good quality products I always add them here.
Finally you can use private label rights for generating traffic. There are numerous content methods you can use to drive traffic. It can be blogging, various Web 2.0 properties like Squidoo, Hub Pages and even article marketing.
Now you will still need to do some editing and rewriting of PLR articles but this can be a huge time saver. You can generate lots of traffic using these methods and although they are not free because they take time (and it has a value) but they continue to work over and over.
So there are three ways that private label rights can help you build your business.

One of the complaints I sometimes here about using PLR is that it is over sold or it is of poor quality. Quite often those can be quite true.
Even some of the “bad” products usually have some piece that is good.If you are like me you usually have more than one product on a specific subject. Even if none of them is great you can grab the best parts of three or four and create a quality product out of it.
This allows you to create something unique which means you no longer are competing with those that are trying to resell the original products.
In most cases they all had sales letter’s that were not great but just as each product had some good parts you can grab the best from the various letters to create a solid sales letter easily.
Order up (in my case) or create (if you have that talent) some new graphics and a mini site and you literally took lemons and made lemonade from them.
You can use the left overs from your creation process to create some quality articles, blog posts and email series to promote your new product.
Here is a quick to do list to accomplish this.
Grab the best pieces of a few PLR products on a topic to create a quality unique product.
Get new graphics and site design for the product.
Create your sales letter using the best from each product.
Promote the product.
Yes it takes a bit of that nasty word – WORK – but it can pay off and set you head and shoulders above the competition.
One of the big secrets to using PLR (private label rights) products is to do your keyword research first. After all if the topic does not have people interested in buying information or you can’t get traffic realtively easily you probably won’t do well there no matter how good the PLR is and how well you make it your own.
One of the good things with doing the research first is you often can find a way to use the PLR to what I would call “nichify it”.
For example you have a report on lead generation. It is a very broad topic but you could personalize the report to
Disabilty Lawyers
Car Dealers
Insurance Agents
Real Estate Agents
just to name a few groups that would be interested in better lead generation. Actually any sales business would be interested in such a product.
The key is which group would be most likely to buy and spend money on that type of product? Which group can you compete easily in?
Doing good keyword research will allow you to find out which of these areas would be most likely to succeed. Now you have a place to start and once that is successful you can reframe the product for the next best niche on that topic.
Now I have not done the research but if you did this and focused on Disabilty Lawyers, tweaked the product to specifically address them and ranked in the serps for terms they would be searching for you should do well.
If during your reseach you found that Insurance Agents was close to being as easy you could now redo the product specifically for them once you have the first one going.
This is why doing some keyword research can pay off many times over if you do it first. Other wise (and again I did not research this) you might try to point your product to Real Estate Agents and find that you have way too much competition or worse no one is buying things in that area.
To find out more on doing keyword research check out the call Steve Roye and I did where we walk you through exactly how to..
Why do you need to find the right niche first?
Where can I find those truly golden nugget keywords for my niche? Get this right and you may need to increase your bandwidth.
How will I recognize them when I do?
Why traffic stats are not the biggest concern when doing keyword research? Wasting time, effort and money on non converting keywords is not only frustrating it can be wasteful.
How much competition is too much? This will let you know in advance exactly how hard you will need to work to get the results you wish.

Your mind set can make a huge difference in using private label rights products effectively. Personally, I feel and have found that if I get private label rights items I need to consume them in 24 hours.
If I do that, I don’t end up with a bunch of digital dust collectors on my hard drive. After all I am sure if you have been on line six months or more you have some of those on your hard drive too.
Here is how I try to do this. Yes, I said try. There are times that I will grab a package of PLR for an upcoming project and not use it immediately but I try to keep that to a minimum.
The first step is to create a folder to download the package to so I can find it easily. Now there are dozens of ways to categorize those but that would be an entirely new article. For our example we will use a folder called PLR with a sub folder of the topic. Download your purchase or gift to that folder you have created.
Unzip your file in that folder. This way all of the files will be in one place for that product.
Now each product will be different but most will have the web pages, a document file, may be a pdf and there always should be a license document. Make sure that you read the license before you start. This way you will be aware of all the terms.
If this were a private label rights ebook product there are three main things you will need to do before you can use the product as your own.
Edit the book
Change the graphics
Edit the pages
To get started open the word document in your favorite word processing software. Go through and read the book. Make notes as you read of what is good and what needs more clarification.
Make your additions and deletions to create a book unique to you. Add in appropriate affiliate links, add an about the author section and re-title the book to be unique.
Most private label rights packages come with the psd files to make editing the graphics easy. You can use your favorite graphics program to create a new look to your graphics. This is an area that for me I outsource it. Once I have the new book title and domain I will order up a new set of graphics.
Either way you will need to change the graphics to get the most from your product.
Finally you will edit the pages you receive. Adding in the graphics you changed and setting up your payment button are the must do items.
You may want to change the offer by adding a bonus or two that are unique to you. The more you do to make your product unique the more valuable it will be.
Now the first time you do this you probably will not be done in 24 hours but if you get in the habit of using private label rights products as soon as you get them you will find yourself with a lot less digital dust and more profit making sites. The key to doing well with any product whether it is a PLR product that you have made your own or a product that you created is to have a way to continue to follow up with visitors. This can improve your sales significantly with a minimum of extra effort.
You took the time and edited your PLR product. You bought a domain. You set up everything you need to sell it.
1. You put up the sales page.
2. You added a payment button.
3. You created a download page.
4. You tested everything (Something people have been known to forget.)
You start sending traffic but even if you have a great sales letter most people will not buy the first time they see your page. Whether you are paying for that traffic with your time or money adding a way to continue the conversation can greatly increase your return on your investment.
This is not a new concept but despite the wide spread knowledge of this fact most do not do it. (Blushing and raising my hand to that all too often.) Usually it is because of that L word – lazy. For some though the thought of creating a follow up series is simply overwhelming.
Most of the better autoresponders will allow you to create some sort of lead capture page. This can be added either directly to your sales or it can be slide in or pop up.that can be added to your sales page with just a line or two of code that they provide so that is not a major stumbling block.
The big stumbling block is writing the follow up series. This does not need to be the huge stumbling block that most of us make it. Yes I said most I had this problem for quite a while I am in there too.
My key for overcoming that is what I call What – Why – How. If you look at most information products isn’t that exactly what they provide? What you should be doing, why you need to do it and exactly how to do it. If that is your product and most are then this method will work well for you.
If you have 10 chapters just create a 10 part e-course. In each e-mail explain what needs to be done to educate your subscriber and then explain why they need to do it. Make sure to give them the benefit they receive for doing this.
Finally end up with how your product will show them exactly how to do that with a link back to your sales letter.
This simple formula gives you an easy outline to create a follow up e-mail series for any product.
Add these to your autoresponder, use the form generator your autoresponder supplies and add the code to your sales page offering your e-course. Now you will be able to continue to follow up with those who did not buy your product and build the relationship until they are ready to buy.

You have downloaded a new PLR package and you want to make it yours exactly where do you start?
The absolute first thing is to read the license. Find out exactly what you can and most importantly what you can’t do with it.
Take the time to read the product, listen to it or watch it depending on the type of product. Take notes as you go through it and mark what you like and what it may be missing. Every product will have pluses and minuses so be realistic in your assessment but these notes will be valuable when you start your editing.
Now you have an idea of the quality of product you have. You know the exact rights you have. It is time to make a decision.
You can use this any number of ways subject to your rights.
1. As an “ethical bribe” to build your list
2. As a product that you can sell
3. As content for any number of things like articles, podcasts and videos
4. It may be something that you need to add more to it
For the balance of this article we will assume you are going to use it as a product and it is an e-book. The e-book is almost good enough as is. If it is not you could combine a couple products and combine them to make a product using the same basic techniques.
Go back to your notes and we will now edit the e-book. Put your voice into it. Add content where it needs it to increase the value that you provide to your customers. Once you have made your edits and added any appropriate links you need to add your own about the author information. This is where you can promote your agenda.
Quick aside – For a paid product you should only add limited links. For example if you are talking about building a squeeze page which requires web hosting a link to your preferred web host would be okay. Just make sure any links on a paid product add to its value. If you are creating a giveaway product you can use more links.
Once you have finished editing the e-book it is time to come up with a name and new graphics. I prefer to create the title, check to see if I can get a domain that goes with the title. If not I will keep trying different titles and domains until I get a good match. Now it is time to edit the graphics.
If I received psd files and can just change the names I will usually do it myself. If they don’t I will usually outsource it. What you do depends on your skill with graphics. The main thing is to make sure that you have good graphics for your new product that are different from what you received. You need to be unique.
Next you will need to edit the sales letter. Depending on the quality of the sales letter and how many changes you made to the e-book you may need just minor changes primarily in the graphics or it may need a total re-write. You need to make sure that you have a good offer. You can add unique bonuses (maybe another PLR product that you have redone) to increase the value.
Add your payment buttons and download pages and you are now ready to start promoting it.

One of the things I am in the process of doing with my business is splitting up the various pieces into separate areas. As my interests have grown and I branch out into various areas I have found it is helpful to you, the reader, if I keep things to a topic.
That first started with my interest in WordPress and blogging. There has been a very specific blog that addresses that topic for quite some time. Now I will be gradually adding new, much more targeted blogs on specific topics within the various interests I follow.
PLR is the first of a few for a couple of reasons. PLR and the related topics of Master Resell Rights and Resell products are one of the most misunderstood and misused area in the internet marketing arena.
Most people have some on their hard drive. They never use them but they sound good so they keep adding to their digital dust collectors.
Even those that do use them do it in a way that does not work and then they get extremely frustrated. I know I have been there, have the t-shirt and coffee mug. It took a while for me to get where I was using then profitably.
So my goal is to supply you with actionable information to get rid of the dust collectors and make that content a valuable part of your business.
You will see how to lessons, product reviews and other information to help you consume PLR in a profitable way. Occasionally there will be information on other related topics such as traffic, copywriting and web sites. All things you will need to get the most out of your PLR.
Take the time to sign up for the updates in the upper right hand corner and hang around for the ride.
