Increasing your monetization

Finally back to the series on using the PLR articles to generate content sites. Last time I discussed ways to generate traffic and now it is time to start looking at your monetization.

I usually start with Adsense because it is easy but as soon as I see that I am getting traffic it is time to look to change that up.

One of the things I like about Market Samurai is that I can track what type of rankings I am getting and I can see what and who my competition is. When I go look at the sites I am competing with I am always looking for how they are monetizing their sites.

Paying attention to the various affiliate offers they are promoting can give me a good idea of what is working in that niche. This si very true when you see more than one promoting the same offer.

At the same time I am also watching my analytics and seeing what people are typing in to find my site. This will do two things. It will show me potential topics to grow the site. Looking at the other pages on Google for that search will give me more ideas on potential ideas for monetization.

Now as I set up the various offers I want to make sure that I am tracking the offers so I can see which ones make sales and which ones don’t. You need to be tracking the results so you can change the offers to maximize your income. Because of that clicks don’t matter as much as the end result.

From this point on it is only a matter of tweaking your offers to maximize your return and expanding your keywords to add more content.

My initial goal is to get the site to making $3 a day on average. If after a couple of months I have been able to get traffic but can not convert it I may have made a mistake in picking my niche so it is time to move on.

But the ones that work will continue to get love and affection to increase them. Now go start putting the plr articles cluttering your hard drive to use.

PLR and Keywords – Site Testing Expanded

Yesterdays post brought out a topic to be expanded so I figured it would be good to address them here. First a review of what was discussed.

One of the most common types of PLR (private label rights) that you will find is article packs. These can be a great way to get a variety of content for new or existing web sites. You have probably seen the various monthly memberships where you get a variety of articles on different topics, You need to do the keyword research first though.

One I use is Expert Content Monthly. I get 12 topics with 25 articles on each topic. This makes great content for niche blogs but…

Not all of the topics are equally valuable.

Now when I decide to do a topic there are some expenses in both time and money so it is not likely that I will do all twelve. After all I need to get an appropriate domain, install a new blog (although that has gotten easier with Expert WordPress), I need to redo the articles a bit to make them unique to me and then I need to start a linking strategy.

One of the questions was

Takeaway, you need to focus time and energy where they will have the greatest payoff. When you set up these sites up, it appears that Adsense is your only way to monetize them. Is it really worth the effort?

First I use Adsense as an initial way to monetize this type of site. It is quick and easy and helps me to see if people are buyers by the number of clicks. As I track the ads they click it allows me to see what type of items they are interested in.

This allows me to find affiliate offers that match the type of items they are clicking through to get. I will also be adding some standard items to the sidebars such as Amazon and other affiliate programs.

The sites that end up being the most successful almost always lose the Adsense as they grow. It is a great way to test things out and decide whether the topic is worth more effort because you do need to focus on the best payoff.

It only takes me about 6 hours total to set up the site, tweak and add the content, create some back links to see if it works. Then if it starts to earn spend the time to max it out. That is why the keyword research is so important to find the phrases you can generate traffic from quickly.

The keyword research before starting helps to sort the topics then the actual results from the initial site make it easy to see of it is worth more effort.
