Why keyword research is important for generating traffic
Traffic is the key once you have completed your editing of your private label rights package and gotten it online. It does not matter if you created a list building system or a paid product your next step is to generate traffic to your system.
Now there are numerous ways to do that. The quickest is to pay for traffic whether it be PPC or banner advertising. The downside is that it can end up costing you more than you make. Now I will use this in a limited way to test out the process and get quick traffic but I prefer using some of the “free” traffic generation techniques.
Yes, I did put free in quotes for a reason. There is always time or outsourcing to pay for whether with cash or your sweat. The good part is that most of the “free” traffic will take a bit of time to start working but once they do will continue to work for you off of the initial effort.
Free traffic sources can be article writing, blogging, various web 2.0 sites, and much more. You can get tips and tricks on 15 different ways to drive traffic at Top Traffic Tips.
The thing is the key to getting the most out of all of these ways is targeting the right keywords. Even with PPC finding the right keywords that people are searching for WHEN they are looking for a solution is the key.
After all the key is to attract people who are willing to pay and not in research mode.
There are a variety of free tools that you can use to do this but you will pay with your time. That is why I use Market Samurai for my keyword research. You can get a free trial and see if it is for you and go through the training they supply.
This will show you how to find keywords to target that will drive targeted buyers to your new site. This will save you a tremendous amount of either time or wasted money targeting the wrong keywords to generate traffic to your new product or squeeze page.

Nothing is really totally free is it. I’ve been doing alot of keyword research lately and find that I’m investing quite a bit of time to do it properly. Up until now I’ve been using the freely available keyword search tools but I think it’s time to start using a payed tool such as Market Samurai. I’m sure it will save me time and do a better job than I can do on my own. I’m going to take a look at the trial – thanks

Don’t know why it is that my ears perk up at that word free. Just something about it. But both of those products that you mentioned are very good as well and contain some awful good information. I really like Market Samurai and those two pros from Top Traffic Tips give out some great information. Thanks for the tip.

Have to say you spotlighted one of the biggest mistakes bloggers, and marketers in general, are guilty of, Mike – thinking they already know what keywords they need to target. While they may in fact know their subject inside out and backward, that doesn’t give them any greater insight into what people are typing in at the search engines – and I know, because at times I’ve been guilty of that same breach myself!
Thanks for hammering home the point – hope people are smart enough to listen!
